addiction to pain killers?

Mon, May 26, 2008 11:51 PM

Does anybody talk about the possibility of addiction to pain killers? I've been on them for a very long time now. I have to be to function. I work 20 hour shifts without any breaks (yes I'm telling the truth and it isn't illegal) 3 times a week. I've done this work for 30 years. There's no way I could go out there without something to dull the pain. It's a very physical job. Is anyone else concerned about addiction to a pain medicine and if so what? Is there any way around this, any non-addictive pain killers out there? Please answer.

There are a lot of ways to deal with opioid addiction, but if you visit north texas opioid addiction treatment, then this addiction will be dealt with comfortably. The experts there know what they're doing.

i know exactly how you feel. i've been on pain meds for over a year now and it has been a life safer. stopped diarrhea and dulled pain enough so i could go to work and function. without it, i'd be in bed all day. i just recently had an ileostomy and am trying to wean off of them and let me tell you it is *** . my doc said just to grin and bear it. i'm having cold sweats, anxiety, headaches, body aches, diarrhea, the works. i'm hoping this won't last long..i'm not functional. i wish there was a better way to resolve chronic pain. have you had any experience coming off the meds/withdrawal?

I have heard that accupuncture helps.  It may be a thought if you have been on the pain meds for awhile.  I know it isnt cheap but sometimes insurance will cover it.  Hope that helps.  Kim :)
