Rectal Disease, Not letting the facts cause you depression

Wed, March 27, 2013 12:31 AM

40 % of all Colon Cancers are are in the Rectum. I have Crohn's Colitis and a history of a Rectal Abscess. My flares are brutal and in the rectal sigmoid area. Every time I walk into a Endoscopy suite or GI Doctor office there is a poster showing this truth of 40% of all  cancer in colon is Rectal. Do I get depressed at all ? sometimes I get scared and then peace comes over me.
I take my medicine and eat a good diet and make changes to be happy and live life as I can. The rectal enemas and suppositories I hate so much help me to heal up.   Heaven for me is going to be no more Colonoscopies or rectal medications. Exit sign only for my rectal area.  Exercise helps a lot with anxiety also.
I am on disability and trying to do as much work as my body can handle. I just changed from full time to part time at work to allow body to heal and see if it keeps me in remission. I will stop work and go to school if  I need to allow my body to heal.
I had a stage T1A Lentigo Maligna Melanoma Surgically removed last year in my back. It was caught early and I am cancer free. I am monitored every 3 months for melanoma now. No Colon cancer for me.
I believe that CCFA Support groups are so nice for support.  When you are there someone will share about there disease and you can bet it is worse then your situation. You get to talk and let emotions out and concerns. I try to to see as many good posters about my life as I can see negative posters for my life. I keep my mind on good thoughts and move on. The battle for peace is in the mind.  I hope my fellow CCFA victims find ways to have a loving and fulfilling life.
