ULTRA SENSITIVE after surgery

Tue, October 27, 2015 11:02 AM

I was diagnosed with crohn's disease at the age of 20 while in my junior year of college at the university of Iowa.  After 10 long years of debilitating pain, numerous medication attempts, abscess surgeries, and a loop ileostomy, i decided to endure a proctocolectomy with permanent ileostomy on September 11, 2015.  Lucky for me, i have an amazing support system in my life. Unfortunately, i continue to be ultra sensitive to everything that happens in life.  I seem to cry at sad commercials, tv, movies, cute kids, even thoughts of happy/sad events, i mean EVERYTHING!  Yesterday i was so happy for a man on TV for scoring a touchdown, I began to cry just because he was happy! haha.  I know this is all emotional, but it seems even my skin has gotten more sensitive.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced any of this. I am thinking perhaps it may be due to all the medications i have had over time.  Not just in the last 10 years, but most recently after surgery.  Almost 2 months of pain medications.

Will this die out eventually?  I am only 1-2 months our from surgery.

I am 10 months with this surgery. I'm still emotional at little things as well. Not to mention big things. I'm envious that you have a great support team with you. I feel alone a lot. My number one supporter isn't there always. I'm not sure if small tears about other people's events in their life ever go away. I know for me I'm still sensitive.
