J pouch Help

Sun, August 07, 2016 12:04 PM

Hi there,

I am in desperate of some advice. I am a 26 yo female with two young children. In may 2011 i was diagnosed with ukcerative colitis, after having a stillborn my UC flared horribly for two years. Basically lived in hospital and in 2013 i had a sub total colectomy. In May and June of 2016 I had the two step surgery to create the j pouch and remove the iloestomy. Since surgery in June i have absolutely had a rough time. About 20-30 times a day bowel movements. I have changed my diet so much basically stick to peanut butter and toast sometimes rice and chicken. it doesnt seem to matter what i eat or dont eat nothing helps. i have had scopes, cts nothing is proving to be wrong medically. i have been on immodium, metamucil, oxycodon, lomitol, EVERYTHING. can anyone please provide some adivce on how to reduce bowel movements so i can live a somewhat normal life with my kids :(

Hey girl,

My journey has been very similar to you.. minus having kids.
I was diagnosed in 2011 and had all my surgeries in 2013. What I find that helps me in the beginning it was marshmellows to slow everything down ( the big ones) ... not exactly realistic to eat them all day every day haha but it helps. Something that helps as well is fiber one brownie bars. They aren't difficult to break down but also help you with bulking. Another thing that I notice is NO MORE than a handful of almonds. Any more than that and youll hate yourself.. but that sometimes helps me with bulking and slowing things down. Just don't over do it because you don't want a blockage. I also make smoothies with fruits and veggies and incorporate flax seeds that are EXCELLENT for fiber use as well. They are really tiny and I usually only put a tablespoon full in my smoothie and they help tremendously. I have noticed that on the days I used them I sometimes dont need Immodium at all.

Hope you feel better and hope this helps!
Keep fighting!

Try opioids.  My Chinese doctor gave me a prescription for Tincture,of Opium.  It will bind you up but not get you buzzed
