Please excuse my ignorance on this

I have UC that is threatening to make me lose my job.  My colon has ruined my life since I was in my 20s (I'm 59 now).  I have wanted to have it removed for a long time, and it will probably come down to surgery for me.

I've looked on a lot of sites to research how to care for an ostomy and how to change bags, etc.  My question is, can the bag be designed with a tube to go into the ostomy  and drain into the bag from that tube instead of the contents just oozing out from the ostomy into the bag?  That seems as if it would prevent leaks better.  The tube could be equipped with a one-way valve to prevent the contents from going back into the intestine.  Again, there is probably a very good reason why the bags are not designed in that manner but I just don't know why that wouldn't work.  Thanks!
