Small bowel resection

Sun, October 16, 2022 12:55 PM

Hi there

Jusy curious if anyone else has had complications after have a small bowel resection?

Little back story....

I'm 43yrs old and was diagnosed when I was 19. Had some trouble early on mainly with severe pain and weight loss(230lbs down to 163lbs) and never had issue with running to the washroom(back up to 220lbs now). I tried different meds and finally got out in Remicade at age 24. Never had any issues other than the odd day with pain or washroom issues if I had greasy, fatty food. Last year I start have severe pain again and had multiple test and I needed a small bowel resection. 10 month ago I had the surgery - 27" of small intestine removed and the ileum removed. Ever since then I potential could be going to the washroom 6-8 times a day and I'm always tired. I even find now sometimes when getting up and moving around I can get an urgent need to goto the washroom. Anyone else have issues like this?

Also at 8 month after surgery I had a scope and everything looks good. Also had my blood checked for level of Remicade to make sure it's doing its job and it's good.

27" is a lot. I hope you're better now since October? Is the BM frequency improving?

I'm scheduled for but I haven't had surgery yet
