Burning Pain After Surgery

Tue, April 08, 2008 9:44 AM

I was finally diagnosed with Crohn’s in 2005 after being sick for awhile.  It was so bad that I stopped working all together because I was making several trips to the E.R all the time because of the pain.  After 2 years, I got worse.  It was to the point a couple of months ago that I was not able to even get out of bed.  I finally found a good doctor who ran all the tests and found that the Crohn’s ate through my small bowel.  Happy to say finally someone was able to help me.  I am a mom with 4 kids and did not have time to be sick as long as I was.

Long story short, on March 4, 2008 I had a small bowel resection, stayed in the hospital 8 days and was sent home.  After three weeks I started to feel almost normal again except all around where my drain tube was at I am having major feels almost like ripping or burning pains.  I have a nurse coming several times a week, because they thought it was a infection and put me on antibiotics, but that did not help.  My question is I believe they think I am sort of crazy.  (Many doctors thought that over the past couple of years because I was in the ER all the time because of pain)  So if anyone has experienced this after surgery that would be great to hear back from you.  I do not want to end back up in the hospital again.  I have seen my share of them in the last several years.  Other than that, things are looking so much better.

I have been trying.  I have 4 kids, and one being a 2 year old so it is hard sometimes.  I find it getting worse, burning pain all the time, so I think it is time to go back to the Dr.  At night it is worse were I have to take a pain pill in order to get comfortable to sleep.  I have seen no signs of infection so far.  That was the first thing they did was put me on antibiotics, and still there is no sign of it, but the burning is still there.  I thank you for you advice.  Does the burning go away after awhile, or did you have to do something special?

Hello,

I had a laparoscopy type appendectomy due to ruptured appendix and noticed that type of pain for about 2 months.  Are you being careful about lifting, bending, etc?

If it is infection, it will surface with high white count and or opening and draining.  If that isnt it, try to stay low and take it easy.  I didnt and that might be why.
