Hi,

I am 25 now, leaving with stoma for over 4 yrs
The muscular pain around the abdomen will go off in some days.
Ignore the pain .
Key thing here with stoma manag is to keep the skin good.
try avoiding skin erosions,it will have lot of  burning...
Use good skin barriers(like coloplast paste).
If u r having skin erosion then u need to apply a coloplast sheet before u place ur plate.
hope it helps

Thanks

I had that pain, too.  As a matter of fact, I posted my concern about it on another site and got no replies, so I figured I was unusual and that bummed me out all the more.  I finally spoke to my surgeon and he said he had to do a lot of muscle cutting behind the stoma which explained the pain but, oh, it hurt for several weeks.  Add to that the stinging and itching from the skin around the stoma being exposed to my waste (I had to prepare the skin with each bag change to take care of that) and I was not a happy camper.  If your situation is like mine,  the pain will eventually go away and be just a memory.  I sure hope so.  Hang in there.
