Rectal stump

Thu, September 16, 2010 10:21 AM

I had an ileostomy many years ago due to Crohns. I was left with a 5-6" rectal stump. Just recently I have been having pain in the rectum and the urge to have a movement. It drains light colored mucus sometimes tinged with blood. The feeling is urgent and must use the toilet many times until it feels empty. Does anyone know what is causing this?

It sounds like inflammation in what is left of your rectum. Maybe your GI will allow a rectal steroid foam to get it under control  Good Luck!
