embarrasing gas output

Sun, February 17, 2013 11:08 AM

I have an illeostomy and never know when I am going to pass gas through my pouch.  I'm aware that certain foods will contribute to this, but am wondering if there is an over the counter product that would mimimize this problem.

I had this problem too and believe it or not i started eating one banana in the morning and one about 2 hours before bed and it has really decreased my gas output.  But c'mon the little gas squeaks that come from the stoma really make people around you wonder whats up  LOL!!!  an its better than ripping one the old fashioned way.

I have this problem periodically as well, tho it has been better for quite awhile.  I have been taking probiotics daily for months -- this should help, and maybe is the reason why it's been better.  I take the 20 billion strength.  I would certainly recommend you try it, as it can't hurt, and is said to be good for many issues.  Could also try digestive enzymes.  Good luck -- I know how embarrassing that is!!  Meanwhile, while sitting, I keep my arm or hand covering the stoma in hopes of muffling the sound.

Hi,
You should try walking a few minutes after every meal & drink ginger & fennel seed tea. It will help you digest the foods you eat while minimizing gas.
