Caregiver/Wife

My husband was diagnosed with UC in his 20's. It has gotten progressively worse in the past 4 yrs. Remicade has kept his UC manageable, but now has bad arthritis. Sometimes by the end of the day, microwaving a meal for himself is near impossible. We also have a 3 yr old son. I have occasionally taken time off on days he is real bad. I am having problems with the doctors approving this leave with my work. They just ordered more remicade and a colonoscopy since he seems to have more arthritis problems & now say he's been fine went i sent my fmla papers for approval. What are others experiences with assisting their UC family that need help? I'm worried I might lose my job.
