Helping my teen cope

Thu, March 10, 2016 11:51 PM

Hello, my 16 year old son was just diagnosed with colitis possibly crohns. This has been rather sudden with hardly no symptoms and then stomach pain in January that lead to a week in the hospital. He has always been very active and a positive outlook and now I am extremely concerned about his depression. I wanted to know if anyone could recommend a doctor for a second opinion, a therapist and possibly a support group. He had plans of enlisting in the marines since he was a child and now that is impossible. He has had a horrific outbreak of acne covering his entire back and torso from the prednisone, can not sleep more than 2-3 hours a night and is having feelings of hopelessness and now refuses to take any more even to taper off. I have been modifying his diet to eliminate foods he shouldnt eat but he sabotages himself when he is on his on. I know hes doing it on purpose because he is so angry. Can someone please help me with some advice or guidance.
