Sibblings

My eldest son was diagnosed 2.5 years ago at age 13 with crohnes, his first symptoms were fatigue and fissures.  He did not have other noticeable symptoms.  After many types of treatment he now has skin problems and joint pain.....argh!

But now my second son, now age 14 is having strange symptoms and I do not want to jump to cronhnes and I do not want the doctors to jump to it either.  But he gets so hungry that he feel nausious.  Do kids without crohnes feel this way?  Could this just be a teenage thing? He has serious constipation, and we are treating daily migraine headaches.  Does this fit?

My Dr. says that the siblings have 50% increased chance of getting crohnes.  I never used to be a nervous mom, but now I can not seem to help it!

My youngest daughter was diagnosed 5 yrs ago and I know what you are feeling.   See, her older sister started with some stomache issues and is very slim.   Of course the first thing that popped into my head was Crohns.

After speaking with my GI, she saw my daughter, ran a boat load of blood work, stool samples and yes......the very unpopular colonoscopy and guess what..............NO CROHNS!!!!!!!  I canot begin to tell you the relief I felt..the weight that was lifted from my shoulders.

You should deal with it head on if it is UC/Crohns, you can deal with it.  If its not, you can celebrate and move on to find out what is the problem.

Good luck, be well.

Hi! I have a 16yr old with Crohns and she was diagnosed about a 1 1/2 years ago.  I am always nervous when I hear her sis complain of stomach aches. or headaches. I cant help but be nervous too! I think it drives her crazy with all the questions.
I would ask your doc or take him in for a check up if it continues . Maybe headaches accompanied by the nausea when not eating can be normal for a growing young man ( have only girls so don't know) You can start with simple blood tests and a physical. Your doc should completely understand the concern. and -- it is common to see sibs with crohns. It also can be parent child too. My neice has it- her father has it but only 1 of her 5 children have it and she is always keeping her eye on the others.
