6mp Morning Nausea

Wed, September 02, 2009 12:00 AM

I have  a 13 year old daughter who has UC.  She was recently moved up to 75 mg of 6MP.  Starting two mornings later she would wake up with an upset stomach.  She will usually go through some dry heaves when she gets up, and then is perfectly fine for the rest of the day.

Anyone else have a similar experience and any ideas to help her avoid the morning upset stomach?

Yes, I take 75mg 6mp and I was experincing nausea in the morning so I started taking it before bed and that has helped me.

Hi,

My 12 year old daughter has Chron's and we were told you can use benedryll for nausea (and anxiety). It helps, but also makes you tired, so I'm not sure it's the best option. Also, there is peppermint or ginger tea that may help. Good luck.

Have a 13 y/o son, same story, although it took a few months after 6MP increase to 75 for the AM nausea to show.

He also felt fine after vomiting, though it often only occurred after anywhere from 30 min to 3 hours.  Recently, a combination of prilosec at night, and small dose of miralax during day helped.  They've surmised that he was chronically constipated enough to cause nausea, and the miralax helped.
Hope this helps.
