waking up 3 to 4 times during the night.

My 15 year old son was diagosed with IBD a montth ago. The only thing is we are not sure if it is crohns or colitis.  He is on medication ( prednisone and pensasa), which seems to be helping.  The only thing is he waking up in the middle night to go to the bathroom 3 or 4 times.  when he is at school, he has no problem.  But toward the evening hours and especially during the night he needs to go quite a lot.  I am wondering because he takes his steroids in the morning that this helps during the day, but as evening approaches and the effecst of the steroids begin to ware off, could this be the cause of waking up so many times in the middle of the night? Any good advice is always appreciated.

Thank you

I get like that from time to time also .Where I wake up 3 or 4 times a night running for the bathroom . Its almost like a phase with me I do it for a couple months and then all of a sudden I just quit going to the bathroom in the middle of the night. The mornings are the worst for me I can not schedule anything in the early morning at all. I can go to the bathroom up to 10 times in the morning alone . But I would call your sons doctor and see what he thinks of the trips to the bathroom at night but if he changes the prednisone to taking it at night he your son may change the trips to the bathroom to during the day so that may mess up the school schedule.
