Sigh of relief

Mon, December 14, 2009 1:00 AM

I was thinking today 'I only post when things are stressful'....not that there is a thing wrong with that!  So today, I decided to post something positive.

6 months after my 6 year old's initial hospitalization and diagnosis, she is doing so much better.  We were FINALLY able to completely wean the prednisone 2 weeks ago.  We had a great visit with her GI today, her arthritis is quiet and the Neurologist didn't see any signs of progressive disease (yes, it's complicated).  This means we are down to JUST 6MP & 2 Tinkerbell vitamins a day and I think I have my baby back.  I know this is just the beginning but today, I'm ecstatic.

And so, the sigh of relief!  Hoping all of you get to breathe one soon......

Thanks for sharing in the 'good'.  :-)  She has Crohns.  I hope your son gets better.

Good to hear! I know what you mean about posting only under stress!  My son was doing so well for so many months and I did not log onto this site, and of course, now I'm back since he's having problems. I want to keep in touch in good times and bad!

Is your daughter diagnosed with UC or Crohns? We were on the 6mp only  for a few months and my son was doing great! He's flaring again now on 6mp plus Pentasa (but with a high calprotectant count so the DR thinks he is inflamed even without having sympotms other than that), but I sure hope that goes away so we can stay on just the 6mp and Pentasa. I added fish oil to his diet hoping that calms things down. We'll see next month!

Congrats again!!!

You know, she has done so well on 6MP.  But, she was on so much (prednisone for 6 months, pentasa, prilosec, 6mp + supplements) and was struggling so many other health problems, it is hard for me to say the 6MP wasn't the culprit of any of it.  Now, though, that she is in remission and we are just down to 6MP, I can say she is tolerating it well.  Does that even make sense?  Thanks for the well wishes.  I am thankful for every day that she feels good!

You reminded me to celebrate the good days. So happy to hear that things are good these days. How is your dgt. doing on 6MP's ? ANy side effects? My daughter might have to go on them some time in the future. The dr. had discussed it with us wihen she was having a flair. Thanks for any input.

Have a happy day !

So glad to hear you are able to breathe the much needed sigh of relief!   Great news your little one is off the Pred.

All I can say is "Enjoy, Enjoy, Enjoy".
