remicade

We just found out that the meds my son, 12, has been taking since he was diagnosed, 1/09, is no longer affective.  The dr. is recommending Remicade.  I've read and heard so many scary things about this drug.  I'm looking for any "parent" advise or information that could easy my fears and/or make sure I'm prepared and aware of all I need to know about the drug.

Our son started Remicade infusions last summer.  Seemed scary to us as well, but what are you supposed to do?  He's 15 and can't function due to severe UC.  So far it is working ok.  He continues to have flares, but they aren't as severe and he actually looks forward to treatment, knowing that there will be some relief.

I just felt like we had to do what was right at the time.  Not sure if this helps, but I hope it does.

Hello -

My son just had his 5th Remicade treatment this week. It is scary, I  agree.  Davis flared this summer and we faced Remicade or surgery.  He is happy because Remicade replaced all of the pills - he likes that best!

I wish you much luck trying to decide what is best for your child. We are praying for you.  Tracy
