Lab values

Mon, April 05, 2010 12:00 AM

Have any of you found that creeping lab values precede a flare?  My daughter's lab values have been normal for a 4+ months but now, this week, the sed rate is a little high and the rbc count is a little low.  She's complained once or twice but nothing dramatic, stools are normal, etc.  I feel like I'm watching her like a hawk.  Well, I watch her like a hawk all the time but you know what I mean......  I told my husband that my "spidey senses" are tingling.  It would be funny except that in the past, my spidey senses (aka mother's instinct :-)) have been pretty accurate.

Hopefully, it is nothing but just wondering if any of you with longer term experience with lab values have had any experience with them being predictive?

Thanks for sharing what has happened with your kids with me.

I was thinking of you and your family today.   Glad to see she is doing well.    I used to catch myself often thinking "oh, oh, what kind of night am I in for".   In my mind everything was CD related.   Over the years I've gained a little control (though sometimes still a bit paranoid too!).

You know - she seems so much better.  I'll chalk it up to mommy-paranoia and quit looking at her sideways.

Thanks for thinking of us.

How is the pooping going? Is it increased? blood? diarrhea?

Usually the above and the waning appetite indicates a flare for us.

Good luck, I hope it is just a virus and things start looking up-

Thanks for the encouragement.  :-)  Now we've added a couple of fevers and the appetite has been waning.  I'm still trying not to be paranoid.  But, even my dear husband noticed the appetite issues and he is usually the last one to notice.  :-)  That's a good thing.....balances us out.  I still hoping it could all be due to a little bug of some sort.  Time will tell, right?

Don't read too much into the #'s.    Try not to overthink it.  It will only add more stress to your everyday life.  Hopefully your daughter is feeling well and doing great!

Take care.

Hi AZMom-

Not sure what it means...if they are up just a tad it might not mean anything.

I guess you will know for sure soon enough...hopefully no flare in the near future

Keep us posted!
