My son has mild inflammation, labs not real bad, but severe symptoms

Tue, December 07, 2010 7:04 PM

My 17 year old son was diagnosed with Chron's March 2008.  His doctors are a little perplexed by his case.  His colonoscopy shows mild inflammation and his lab work seems okay except for anemia.  He has severe symptoms:  lack of appetite, low body weight, stomach pain.  The entecort and asacol isn't working anymore and the doctor isn't sure but thinks we should go on 6mp.  Anyone have this scenerio???

Thanks

Also, my daughter didnt have any side effects with 6mp.  Your son would have to have blood tests regularly, but for my daughter, it was as simple as taking a pill and going on with her day.

We had to take her off as she ended up going into a flare while on 6mp.  But for a while, it worked well.

Also, my teen doesn't have anemia, unless she is in a flare. I'm not sure if your son is in a flare, but if so, should be attended too. Maybe talk with doctor and if you don't get anywhere, find another one. You are your son's best advocate. :-)

Hi. My daughter had severe symptoms, the fatigue and diarrhea were horrendous before DX.   She was given Remicade a few times, then put on 6mp, which over time did not do it's job. She is back on Remicade.

Im told Remicade is great for healing fistulas and skin tags.  Maybe someone with more knowledge will give you their experience.

Best wishes and hope your son gets better.
