Missed Cycle

Sat, April 13, 2013 12:59 PM

I have been newly diagnosed with colitis and I'm prepared for it because I have always had trouble  with my stomach any ways (granted it was not this bad but I know how to prevent a flare and all the good stuff) but what I wasn't prepared for was missing my period for two weeks! I am a sexually active 19 year old with a permanent boyfriend of two years, but even after taking two pregnancy tests that came up negative I still haven't had my period. Is this a normal process with all the changes in weight and diet? And has this happened to other women? Thank for all the help in advanced.

I can absolutely identify with this.  I haven't had my cycle in about 1 year now.  I thought it was from lost weight from a flare, but now I have gained it back and still haven't been menstruating.  I recently went to a OBGYN dr to get some other tests to make sure it wasn't anything else, which I would recommend.  It is hard when you are sexually active because you have to deal with the pregnancy paranoia more than usual : )  Don't be shocked though because my doctor felt this was common for girls with IBD.
