Overwhelmed

Wed, April 17, 2013 4:17 PM

I just got married 9 days ago and have been eager to start my new life with my husband. I've had Crohn's disease for about 6 years and my husband has always been supportive, but I've never had a severe flare while with him.
5 days after our wedding, I was hospitalized with a crohns flare for 4 days. They are now putting me on steroids, cimzia and I'm still on dilaudid multiple times per day. We wanted to start having kids right away, but now I'm not healthy enough, I don't know how the new meds will affect my fertility and pregnancy, and our savings is being used to keep us afloat while I'm out of work.
I'm so overwhelmed and just don't know where to go at this point. There's only so much my husband can do, not truly understanding what I'm going through.
Anyone with any advice, please help. I'm so lost right now.

It is amazing how similar our thougths are right now. I go to my doctor this week and will be asking all those questions about medication and getting pregnant. My next step is a new obgyn for high risk pregnancies. How are you doing with the meds and being out of the hospital? How is your body reacting to food? I remember when I was out of the hospital they put me on a low fiber and low residue diet.

How are you on pain meds ? My docs refuse to put me on any. Frequently I'm in a lot of pain. Prednisone helps with flares. I get joint pain headaches and sore muscles all the time. I wouldn't worry about children until u know you are in remission. I have 2 children and I find my self in need of family support daily to help with laundry and cares of the children. Fatigue is worse after having children. Especially when you zonk out because you can't stay awake. It's too much care for a baby and your crohns problems at The same time. Including being out of work or low in money. Not a good choice. I'd wait enjoy  each other and the marriage first. Jen where are you from?
