Pregnancy

Thu, May 02, 2013 6:31 AM

My husband and I wanted to start trying to get pregnant this summer. I went to the Rheumatologist yesterday for an positive ANA marker. He said nothing was serious except for a abnormal "sticky blood" number. I am going to my GI doctor in two weeks for my check up and plan on talking with them about all this, but I wanted to hear what everyone has to say. I know it is best to conceive when you are not having a flare. I feel like I always have issues with my intestines and bloating, even with the medication I am taking. I feel like I will never have the Crohn's flares under control sad  The doctor yesterday said that I cant be on any medication during the pregnancy and then I was reading here that some of you were. Are their certain medications that you can be on? So stressed about it all...

Thanks for the reply. Currently I am on Lialda to control the flares. I always get confused at what the flares actually are... Is it the abdominal pain, the bloating, the gurgling? I see my doctor this week so hopefully he will be able to answer more of my questions.

Hello , I am 25 weeks pregnant.. I didn't try to get pregnan it just happened but it did happen while I was on remission. I have been in remission ever since I started Remicade which is going on a year now... There hasn't been that much study on pregnancy while on Remicade. But of course plenty of women have been through it already and turn out with a healthy baby.. Im not sure what medications you are taking but I know you can't be on certain types especially steroids. But so far through my pregnancy everything seems to be going well and the baby is growing and she is at the exact length and weight she should be around this time.. While on Remicade. I haven't gotten any flare ups. I have heard your Crohns actually goes into remission during pregnancy.. You will pregnant when the time is right. It will happen for you! Start by thinking positive that you WILL have your flares under control! Stress could have a lot to do with it. Just keep positive and get your flares under control before trying to conceive because you don't want to get sick while pregnant. Don't rush into it, give it time. The time will come. Good luck :)
