Trying to Get Pregnant on Remicade

Mon, September 16, 2013 9:23 PM

Hi Everyone,

I am currently taking Remicade for my Crohn's disease. My husband and I are trying to get pregnant and, of course, I am nervous about being on such a toxic drug. Does anyone have any information they can share about being pregnant while taking Remicade?

Thanks so much,
Shira

I just got married and have been taking Remicade about 8 years now. When I spoke to my doctor about getting pregnant, he said that 1/3 of patients feel better, 1/3 feel worse, and 1/3 stay about the same symptom-wise while pregnant. There isn't enough research out there for the doctors to tell you its safe, but my doctor didn't seem particularly concerned about birth defects etc. Hope this helps and good luck.
