Hello, I have some questions to ask the community. I am 21 with Chron's and have had this disease since 18. I am currently 31 weeks my pregnancy has not been bad up to this point, my first trimester was ruff with sickness, but I chalked that up to normal pregnancy. I gained a lot of weight right from the start and recently I have had a hard time keeping food in my system. I eat then go to the bathroom, I've been losing weight for about two weeks, 8 lbs so far. I do not take my medicine as I do not feel comfortable taking my medicine while pregnant. Has anyone while pregnant had this problem? I was also wondering how Chron's patients handled through labor? Did anyone go prematurely? How was it after delivering? Did your babies have health issues? Any other information that I could have as well? I haven't seem my Chron's doctor as I am waiting for a new referal to go through due to changing doctors. If anyone can shed some light for me that would be greatly appreciated. Please and thank you.

I have a 8 month old baby and I have chrons.
I was on Humira and Imuran while pregnant and also right now while breastfeeding.
I delivered right on time and everything went really well.
I experienced issues around 30 weeks pregnant. i was going to the washroom much more than normal. My pregnancy up to that point was great and i felt really good.
I wasnt gaining weight but I wasnt losing it either. The baby was still growing great and gainging weight so the doctors werent concerned.

Hi! Congrats on your pregnancy!!!!
While trying to get pregnant, my Crohn's seriously flared up and I had to undergo surgery. After I recovered from surgery, I got pregnant and had no issues during pregnancy. My son was late and I was induced but I had no issues delivering him. At the last minute I chose to breast feed when I found out that is might help him avoid IBD since it seems to run in both sides of our families. 2 years later I had another great pregnancy and my daughter came 2 weeks early with no issues at all. Both my kids were and are healthy.
As I had just had surgery before my first pregnancy, I was not taking any medication for my Crohn's at the time I got pregnant so I cannot comment on the effects of meds. This is something that your doctors should advise you on. My specialist said that he saw a trend that if Crohn's was quiet when pregnancy occurred, the Crohn's seemed to remain quiet for an extended period post-pregnancy. I can attest to this. I struggled with Crohn's and was in/out of the hospital and on numerous meds for 15 years pre-pregnancy and could not control my Crohn's. My son is now 17 years old and my Crohn's has been quiet and I have not been on any meds.
Good luck with your pregnancy!
