Crohns, Crappy Immune System, Anxiety: My Trifecta of Turmoil

Wed, September 24, 2014 9:55 AM

I was diagnosed with Crohns several years ago, though that followed years and years of misdiagnoses.  After developing Pancreatitis due to Imuran and 6MP and spending 4 days in the hospital, I was put on Remicade infusions.  I tolerated Remicade well for a couple years, only feeling extreme fatigue for a few days following the infusions.  But in May, 2014, I got very sick immediately after my infusion.  I was diagnosed with Strep, then Bronchitis and now finally Mono.  I have been on bed rest ever since, hoping to recover from the beating that my immune system has taken lately.  But I am finding myself more and more anxious at the thought of returning to work.  Since I am unable to have Remicade right now, I am on Entocort as a way of attempting to keep my Crohns in check, though lately my stomach has been very upset and several of my Crohns symptoms have returned.  I work in a high-stress career (law enforcement - Intel) and am just not sure I have what it takes anymore.  I am feeling so poorly lately and am contemplating a career change (perhaps working from home?) or attempting to go on disability. I was just wondering if anyone else has contemplated a career change/disability due to their Crohns/UC and how you went about accomplshing it.  I am 34 and have a BA, but Im just so anxious and tired these days.  I could really use some guidance...Thanks!
