pregnant with UC

Sun, November 02, 2014 9:58 AM

Hello community, so I am pregnant with baby number 1 and it has been so hard . This UC current flare is driving me insane, my doctor prescribed me prednisone but now its making my blood sugar high and they have diagnosed me with gestational diabetes to top it all off. Have any of you ladies been successful with getting your flare down without having to take prednisone?

Current symptoms: Very little blood in stool, still have urgency, bowel movements 3-4 times per day, extreme cramping when in the rest room, most of the time when I have the urgency it is gas, mucus, and some blood.

Any suggestions as far as better food to eat or anything will help, every time I talk to my doctor he throws me a prescription of prednisone and I am fed up with that medication.

hello!

were you ladies flaring when you got pregnant?  or did you flare start during pregnancy?  i am in the middle of a several month long flare and have been advised to not try to get pregnant until it is under control.  i have been on prednisone since july (right after my wedding sad).  i was just about to stop taking it and the flare picked back up.  my husband and i are anxious to start our family but dont know what to think about my flaring.  any advice/thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!

thanks!!!

I have similar issues as yours and my doctor introduced me to the FODMAP diet.  It has been beyond helpful.  It doesn't help everyone, but I noticed a huge difference.  You can find more about the diet at the following blog (http://blog.katescarlata.com/) as well as recipes.   There are also recipes on pinterest, etc. and if you google it there is more information about what to eat and what not to eat.  Hope that helps!
