missed periods

Thu, May 28, 2015 11:39 PM

I am 20 and was diagnosed with severe UC just over a month ago, I was hospitalized originally so I could be on IV steriods but I picked up c.diff in the hospital, making a long story short I was in the hospital for like 3 weeks and I am home now. I am currently taking Medrol (its like prednisone), Imuran, Omneprozole and Remicade. I should have got my period 4 days ago and I didnt- I am never late. also, i am getting some acne which is normal for before period but it may be a side affect of the drugs.
also....I am going bald, like my hair is falling out really quickly and people are commenting on how thin my hair looks.
I am not going to be seeing my doc until next week and I wont be seeing a dietician who specializes in ibd for a few more weeks. any advice or tips until than?
thanks

Thanks... I'm gonna try that with the hair I'm going to the doc in a couple days and I'm going to ask him if there is anything I can do cuz I'm really nervous about missing my period as I never had that before

During the times when I was most sick with Crohn's, I would go months without my period and hair loss was normal. Focus on getting healthy again, and those things will get better too. In the meantime, you can decrease the stress of losing hair by getting yourself some big headbands and wearing your hair up or wearing hats. It will help take the pressure off with people commenting on it. I know it's tough to go through, but your body is probably just reacting to the stress of the illness and the meds you are on. Hang in there!
