Pregnancy and Flare Up

Tue, June 02, 2015 8:57 AM

I am in my second trimester of my second pregnancy and I am at the beginning of a flare up (diagnosed with Crohn’s in 2004). I have not switched my meds (Humeria) since getting pregnant. I did have a bad flare up about a year ago (after baby #1) where the Dr. doubled the dose on Humeria.

In the recent weeks, I have been having severe abdominal pain. My dr. thinks it is a partial blockage in my small intestine. Because I am 20 weeks pregnant, we are not able to adjust my meds.

My Question – Does anyone know of any non-medical way to manage a partial blockage? I changed my diet; eliminated caffeine, milk products, fiber, and carbonation.

I would suggest a second opinion. I had the same thing happen to me at 16 weeks for my second pregnancy and was admitted to the hospital until it resolved. I was also unable to keep any food for hydration down. Then my medications were altered.
