Periods and Crohn's

Sat, November 07, 2015 6:01 PM

Does anyone find that their periods are much more painful with Crohn's.  My daughter's cramping is terribly painful.  We're trying to find a birth control pill that will just eliminate the periods as much as possible but haven't found one, yet.  Pain pills don't really help-at least not at the prescribed doses.  I just don't know if this is normal with Crohn's or not.

My periods have always been pretty bad but are MUCH WORSE since CD. I often don't know if I'm having a severe flare up or if I'm about to get my period. Sometimes I have to stay home from work, I often cannot sleep or even drive (I have a high pain tolorence too). I personally have never used Birth Control and am afraid they may make matters worse. Also, age and the size of a person may have something to do with it.

i haven't found that it makes my period worse, but my gyno has suggested birth controls that aren't oral because of my crohn's disease. next time she sees the doc i would ask about IUDs and the shot.
