Not in remission and pregnant.

Hi everyone. Im 25 with moderate Crohns. Im on remicade and azathioprine. I found out that I am pregnant ( 7 weeks). It was incidental and not planned. The down side of it all is that Im not in remission. Last summer was hard having C-Diff 4 times and having back to back flares. Im recently recovering from it. My main concern is the babys health and mine as well. My doctors (high risk OB and GI team) said they can help me get through it. But I still have that fear. Has anyone gone through pregnancy while having active crohns/ not in remission? Were there any major issues?

I was not flaring when I got pregnant and am 25 weeks now. I switched from imuran to humira when I found out and have been doing so great that I thought I was one of the lucky ones to go into remission. Unfortunately I started to flare this week and was hospitalized for two days. Luckily all is well with the baby and I'm feeling pretty good but I am back on the dreaded prednisone. Hop it will help but hate the side effects. They say it is safe for baby, too, but I was hoping to get trough the pregnancy without having to take them. I hope that you feel better soon and it sounds like you are in good hands!

I'm 13 weeks right now and am flaring. I was flaring when I got pregnant too. My OB and my GI don't seem to be too concerned about it other than its not very comfortable for me. My GI switched me from sulfasalizine to Lialda and I've been on that for 3 days. Doesn't seem to help much. So you're not alone my friend! 😊
