Blisters on the top of my mouth

Thu, January 28, 2016 9:35 PM

I am wondering if anyone else has had trouble with blisters on the roof of their mouth.  I have been told that the whole of the digestion system begins at the mouth and ends at the anus. Many different parts can be effected by Crohn's disease.  I will get blisters on the roof of my mouth and occasionally the blisters will develop into an ulcer; to say the least, it can be quite painful. Is this unusual?

This is normal and it can be the sign of a flare, so make sure if there are any other Crohns related symptoms you see your doctor soon before it gets worse. When I begin to have a bad flare I always get ulcers in my mouth and esophagus. I had 16 separate ulcers in my mouth in every place imaginable during my last flare. I also get iritis (inflammation in the eye). These ulcers can be very painful and there is honestly not much you can do about it. I usually try to continually swish with hydrogen peroxide and stock up on Oral B numbing medications. From my experience the ulcers tend to get better after a couple weeks.
