drs telling me not to try

Fri, February 05, 2016 3:45 PM

Hello,

i have UC, and haven't had a flare up in 2-3 years. My dr switched me from 6mp to Azathioprine 3 months ago and I feel fine even though my numbers aren't in the therapeutic range. I'm also on Lialda, and rowasa enema.

I went in for a sigmoidoscopy and my dr doesn't want me to start trying, because i have some inflammation in a small part of the  rectum even though I'm symptom free. Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm very frustrated that we can't try when I feel great. I want to  go against her orders, but don't want to harm the fetus

thank you so much!

Im on remicade and have been for 3 years. In a flare now even though I feel ok, not the best but ok, and Dr. Is adding 6mp. I'm scared of it and would like to get pregnant. What is your experience with 6mp? I do know you can be flared and symptom free. Your Dr. Must be concerned for some reason. Maybe you can get a 2nd opinion? Good luck

I can only commiserate.  I was actually getting ready to begin fertility treatments when I was diagnosed with UC, and everything came to a screeching halt even though my UC is mild and I basically feel fine.  Both the gastro and the fertility specialist insisted that we wait, but I can't seem to get a straight answer out of anyone as to WHY...like, what exactly is the danger?  Hang in there...I know the waiting is frustrating because I'm waiting too!
