IBD & Delivery

Wed, May 18, 2016 11:36 AM

I am 4 months pregnancy and was told by a neonatologist last March (2015) that I should have a scheduled c-section, so I just assumed that was what I HAD to do.  My OB said I choose to do whichever I prefer.  The more I look into it, the more I feel like a vaginal delivery is achievable and actually a c-section is more difficult to recover from, especially with IBD.  Does anybody have an advice?  My GI is the one who referred me to the high-risk specialist, so she is leaning more to agree with him.

Do you have any perianal disease?  I have 2 fistulas so I was told by both my GI and OB that I would need to be a scheduled c-section.  Have you had any resections?  I had a colon resection in 2013 and my c-section in 2014 and honestly the c-section was a breeze compared to the resection!  Feel free to ask any questions!
