I am still on birth control pills and dont plan to conceive until 2010 so hopefully there are no fertility issues.  I will be sure to follow the instructions of my doctor.  Did you get a colonscopy before you got pregnant?

I don't have any advice on conception, we didn't have any issues with fertility.  As far as being pregnant with UC, I would just suggest to listen to your doctor's.  I was closely followed by my OB to detect any problems.  Good luck!

I appreciate you writing me back because this now gives me a little relief.  Is there any advice you can give me with trying to conceive as well being pregnant and having ulcerative colitis?

I have and continue to have blood and mucus.  Please don't let yourself get discouraged.  This disease sucks, but I have learned to live with it.  I easily got pregnant with all my kids, UC didn't seem to have any effect on my fertility!  As you said, we have to try not to let it control our life, even if it's easier said than done sometimes!  :)

I'm not sure if you have this symptom or not but I kind of get discouraged about being able to conceive after seeing blood in the stool and/or mucus occassionally during a bowel movement.  Please give me some relief and tell me you have experience the same symptoms so I wont be worried and so stressed out.

Congrats on your kids!  Kids are such a blessing.  Living with UC is touch but I am not going to let it control me.

I was high risk during my pregnancy, I suffered flare ups during my 2nd and 3rd trimesters.  I had to have frequent ultrasounds with the high risk doctor to check to make sure the baby was growing properly.  Other than the flareups ( which I have regardless of pregnancy ), everything was fine.  Although, I did go into labor on my own at 37 weeks and I am certain it was caused by my colitis.  I had 2 previous pregnancies and I was late with my first, and had a scheduled c-section at 39weeks with my second.  Also, my Gastro said it was very important to stay on my meds ( Pentasa ), as not being on them would cause more harm to the baby than being on them.  Hope that helps!
