sister has crohn's

Hi everyone.    I am the big sister!     I am the big sister who remembers when my little sister was born.    I am the big sister who changed her diapers and tucked her in.    I am the big sister who let her hang out with me at cheerleading practice and never ever thought she was a pesty little sister.     My little sister was my junior bridesmaid when I was married and she was there when both of my children were born.

Now, I'm the big sister whose little sister (age 22) has been diagnosed with Crohns.     I see the pain that she is in and I know she is embarrased by her symptoms.   She was just in the hospital for almost a week and after failed attempts with steroids and other medications, she has decided to try Humira.

I guess I don't really have a question......I just want some advice.    I want to be there for my sister.    And I guess I want other sisters to know that they are not out there by themselves either.    What can I do or say to make my sister comfortable and how can I help her deal with her Crohn's?

aw your such a good sister!!

i am 21 years old , i was diagnosed with severe crohns disease over a year ago. it is hard to cope with your emotions when you know your going to suffer from this disease the rest of your life, your sister is a strong person. you need to just always support her and be there for her when shes not feeling well. I was on steroids and i was on antibiotics and mesalamine. What helped me the most was Remicade. it is similar to humira except u get it every month not every 2 weeks. and the shot doesnt hurt as much. it is not a healthy treatment for longterm humira and remicade so make sure she gets off of it soon. crohns is painful but not gonna kill her,, on the other hand there has been deaths in remicade and humira, so please make sure she gets in remission fast and off those strong medication!!

you can give her my email and tell her you spoke to someone who has crohns. i think it would benefit us both. Thegirl9488@yahoo.com

g-d bless you and your family

By doing what you are doing now, being there.  It is all we ask.  Make sure we don't sneak off and eat something wrong, being there to listen, just being.  It is the best medicine there is.

She is very fortunate to have you.
