Hi, has anyone had an experience where they got sick while having a flare and took a long time to get better? I am so frustrated because I have these upper respiratory symptoms, sore throat, fatigue beyond belief and cough every time I speak. I also am having UC flare symptoms and they cannot give me Remicade until this respiratory thing clears up. It's been over a month now.

i too get flu symptoms when in a flare. i feel like i am coming down with a sinus infection too. i have never related it to a flare, but now it makes sense. i am so exhausted and lethargic too. sometimes i wonder if i will ever go in remission and stay there. i think that you just have to do what your body is telling you that it needs: sleep, fluids. it's hard some days to justify sleeping when the house is filthy and the laundry needs to be done.

I can completely relate to the position you are in. 12 years ago, I had what I thought was the flu, was bed ridden, and a few years later was finally diagnosed correctly with crohn's disease. Even now, I have most days that I can hardly get going and am sick with sinus infections and respiratory illness constantly. I am seeking help from a new stand point. I do not believe the G.I. doctor is helping me one bit. I feel like giving up and that life is passing me by. I do not know what to do. If you have any ideas please send them my way. Mindy
