I am in need of Help

Tue, August 04, 2009 12:00 AM

My name is Jessica , I was recently dx with Crohns in November of last year. I am on the hunt for a GI in the Centeral Florida Area who will see someone with Crohns and that is pregnant. I have been turned away from 23 docs who will not see me until after the birth. I am at a loss . I recently had a flare and was in the hospital , where no one seemed to know what to do with me , except steriods and clear liquids. PLEASE if any one can recomend something . I am in terrible need of help. I am willing to drive anywhere to make this pain and suffering go away.

Thank you

Hello,  I would discuss this with your OB if you have not done so already and demand that they find a gastroenterologist to see you.  At the very least, they can monitor you during your pregnancy and then discuss treatment options once the baby is born. Good luck and hang in there.

My heart and prayers go out to you.  Have you tried the "Mayo Clinic"?  I don't know if there is one in Florida.  I live in Tucson Arizona for which their is a clinic in Phoenix.  Most doctors who work at the Mayo Clinic for Crohn's have had training at Mt. Siani Hospital in NY (this is the hospital for which Dr. Crohn's discovered "crohn's).  You can also contact Mt. Siani Hospital or the closest Mayo clinic for a recommendation.  I wish you the best.  jb
