irregular periods that are "regular"... they have a pattern

Sat, August 15, 2009 12:00 AM

first off, i should say that i was on the pill for a few years b/c my periods where just soooo awful and went off it in october. and my periods were pretty regular up to may. well...

i was diagnosed w/ crohn's in april and put on entocort and asacol and noticed some spotting.  it wan't anything too terrible but i don't really have anything to compare it to.  in may, i got may period and it lasted for about 7 days (my usual was 5 or 6) then stopped.  2 weeks from the start, i got it again for 7 days.  then it stopped.  4 weeks later i got it like normal but this time lasted for 10 days.   now a little over 2 weeks later i have it yet again.  and all of these periods are really heavy.   the reason i think it's especially odd is becasuse i'm awuflly tiny and you would think me being as small as i am i wouldn't have it at all.

does anyone else get periods that are this wacky?  is this something i should be really concerned about?

I would let your doctor know.  You may have some sort of inflammation going on in the ovaries, due to the meds, or your hormone levels, or another organ level, be off and constantly putting you into ovulation mode.  It doesn't sound "normal" to me, and if you have insurance, that's what you are paying the docs to do - take care of you!
