UC symptoms after 3rd Gardisil shot

Fri, August 21, 2009 3:49 PM

Has anybodys teen daughters or friends/relatives etc., been diagnosed with UC after taking the series of Gardisil shots??  My soon to be 17 year old was having onset of bloody stools very shortly after going thru the series.  Long story short the bleeding persisted!!  Referred to a GI specialist in Sept of 2008 for possible UC or CD and he immediately admitted her to the hospital for full evaluation.  She was there 10 days. And after full tests, colonoscopy etc she was diagnosed with UC. I didn't think about the possible connection of the Gardisil shots until a few months after her diagnosis when I was trying to put two and two together and the only think diff in her life was that series of shots.  She has NO family history of GI problems. Rarely if ever missed school she was NEVER sickly as a child always ate every fruit and veggie possible etc etc.  She ate an extremely healthy diet!!!!  Family and friends  were shocked when they heard of her diagnosis and  said but she eats so healthy  etc etc.  Anyway,  I've asked her GI if he's seen any new trend of teen girls that had that series of shots and he couldn't give me an answer.  I don't know if anyone is connecting any of the dots.  So I thought I would reach out to the community and ask fellow Mom's/teens if they have any input of a similiar scenerio as my daughters.  I still cannot wrap my head around a perfectly HEALTHY teen take a 360 after taking this shot series and ending up with UC.  I'm not convinced it's not connected! Maybe UC is a rare side effect.  Who knows!?  But I wanted to start investigating on my own.   ANY and ALL feed back would be APPRECIATED!!!
