vaginal discharge?

Fri, April 23, 2010 12:15 PM

Hi fellow female warriors!!  My teen daughter has UC and has been experincing a heavy increase in her discharge.  Her doc seems to think it could be due to meds.  She is on 6MP and Lialda.  Has anyone else had this experience?  She has been seen by both her Primary and a OBGYN.  My  teen is of course concerned so I thought I would put a shout out and hope for some feed back to help ease her mind.  Thanks for ANY responses!!  Have a great day!!!

Hi,

I'm sorry I haven't been on for a couple of weeks to answer your reply.  My daughter hasn't complained of nausea but on a few occasions.  Since your experiencing a increase in discharge I'm wondering if it is the Lialda because her doc increased her from 2 a day to 3.  This is about the same time her discharge increased.  Back to the Lialda and your nausea, you might need Pepcid.  My daugher takes Pepcid one half hour tprior to  taking her meds.  Which is Lialda and 6mp.  If your Doc did not prescribe this, it might help!!!  It will coat your tummy prior to taking the meds.  I hope this helps if your not already taking it!!  God Bless!!

Hi,

It could be the Lialda and I notice the same with me. I've been on Lialda for a year now and I have an increase since I been on it. My question to you or your daughter...Does the Lialda make her feel naused all the time? I just recent relized it make me sick all day.

The meds could be throwing the good bacteria in her body off.   I would try eating a yogurt a day (just making sure it has live cultures).   Another thing you may want to try is Acidophilus.  It is a dietary supplement, found in pharmacies/healthfood stores, that is known for adding good "gut" bacteria back into the system.
