IVF with Crohn's

Fri, April 23, 2010 9:03 PM

Hello,

I am 32 and have had Crohn's since I was 17.  About a year and a half ago I discovered that I would not be able to get pregnant on my own as I have massive scar tissue blocking my fallopian tubes as a result of a small bowel resection.

Anyway, I am about to start my IVF first cycle.  I am currently on Entocort, but am planning on stopping once I start.  I am wondering if anyone else has been in a similar situation.

Thanks.

Hello,

I'm 31 years old and was diagnosed with Crohn's back in 2000 after I had given birth to my son. The pregnancy was ruff towards the end and I had him two months early. Since then I have been on many types of mediacations including one surgery. I've had two miscarriages and we are now trying to conceive again and have been since July 2009. It's so frustrating. My doctors are very positive that it can happen. I've been on fertility meds & this past weekend we tried the IUI. So, in a couple of weeks we should know something.  IVF will be the next step if this doesn't work. From what I have understood, steriods would be ok to take during pregnancy if needed. But I would consult with your doctor. Right now I'm on Imuran and my obgyn isn't a big fan of it, but my stomach doc says that I need to stay on it or I might relaspe. Once agian it's so frustrating because you want to stay healthy (pain free) but on the other hand want to have a healthy baby. I wish you the best of luck. Try to stay positive and pray.

God Bless!
