Hello, I have constipation every month before my period. Is this normal for a female Crohn's patient? My doctor said no med. prescription allowed. Just eat vegetables and fruits or over the counter drugs.Anyone have suggestion?

My 17-year-old daughter has Crohn's disease and has always struggled with constipation, rather than diarrhea. Her doctor recommended Miralax (polyethylene glycol). She takes it every day to avoid getting constipated. Our pediatrician says it's the safest laxative for long-term use. I take it, too, as I have always had problems with constipation, as well. Although I've adjusted the dose (I only take half a dose every other day), my doctor told me I could be on it for the rest of my life.
