Hi,

My daughter is in her 3rd trimester and is showing signs of a flare.  She has been fine up until a few days ago.  Has anyone been at this stage when a flare occured and did everything turn out okay??  As a mom and soon to be grandma I am soooooo concerned for both!!!!  Im reaching out to the community in hopes someone can share and even advise!!!  THANK YOU and GOD BLESS!!

Did she come off her medications before/during her pregnancy?  I guess I would consult her GI and Rheumatologist ASAP and have them coordinate treatment with her OB.  I'm in my third trimester with twins and have been on Remicade and doing fine - this is my second pregnancy with Crohn's and the first time I came off the Remicade fearing what it could do - instead, I got a fistula, got very sick, and miscarried.  I went back on it, got pregnant again and delivered a healthy baby three years ago.  Except for one flare while nursing (yes, it's safe to nurse with Remicade) I've been in remission for the past three years.  Still, I was afraid of being pregnant again without being treated, so I've stayed on it and it's been a completely complication-free pregnancy (despite begin 41 yo and despite carrying twins!)  I know treatments for Crohn's can be different than for those with UC, so I don't want to advocate Remicade - I'd just get all of her specialists on the same page right away.  Best of luck to her - I'm sure it will all work out fine.  Enjoy that grandchild!
