GYN Doctors????

Thu, February 09, 2012 4:08 PM

I have been diagnosed now with Chrons for over 2 years and now that I just got married almost a year ago my husband and I have been thinking about having a baby.  I know the process as a woman living with Chrons can be difficult and i was wondering if anyone knows if there are Ob-GYN's that specialize in Chrons Disease.  I just know my doctor doesnt have a clue about it and i think i would be more comfortable knowing the doctor has some insight on it.  Any information would be helpful.

I am very much in the same position and was wondering if you were able to find a OB/GYN that specializes in or is @ least knowledgeable about IBD? I live in NYC and am hoping to find a new OB/GYN very soon so I would appreciate any help!

Thanks so much for the information.  I am from New Jersey and all of my doctors are out of one hospital so i was referred to a GYN over there so we shall see what happens.  I am looking forward to all of those sonogram pictures one day.  Have a good one!

best,

Look for a Perinatal doctor or group in your area. They are not specific to just crohns, but deal with all high risk pregnancies. I was referred by my GYN to the group in Phoenix. Good thing since my preg was pretty normal until 34 weeks. Got severe preeclampsia out of the blue and had to go straight from the office to the hospital. They will also have you admit to the specialist hospital in your area that has a NICU attached just in case. My daughter was only in NICU for 10 days until she could eat on her own. I also was lucky in that I was in the 1/3 that felt better during pregnancy. Then I flared two days after delivery though. Another plus to seeing the Perinatal doctor is you are seen at least twice as much as with a regular GYN doc and that means lot of baby ultrasounds pics for your baby book later. :) Good luck.
