difficult choices

Sun, May 29, 2016 3:07 PM

I just found this site.   It's been 14 month of a downward spiral.  What started with mild symptoms of ulcerative proctitis is now severe ulcerative colitis that has spread to my entire descending colon.  50 mg of Prednisone a day has made things barely tolerable.  Without it I would not be able to leave my house.   Mornings are my difficult time.  I get up at 6am and after 10am I am usually able to go to work.  Fortunately I own the business, but when I am not there at 8am we lose money.  That stresses me out a lot, especially since I just bought my first home and I have a huge mortgage.

On June 1st I am scheduled to start Remicade, but I am full of fear.  More stress adding to the problem.  I am afraid of having to be on Remicade for the rest of my life.  I just saw a acupuncturist/dietician who handed me Breaking the Vicious Cycle and suggested I start with the Specific Carbohydrate Diet.  It looks too strict to me and it causing more anxiety. My GI doctor has never even mentioned my diet.  Why?

Anxiety is through the roof.

I will gladly take all the advice I can get.

Hey queriss,

Just now seeing your post. I agree with the first comment about stress. It's a catch 22. Just wanted to let you know I've been on Remicade for a couple of years now and it has put me into remission with minor flares from time to time. It was scary for me at first too, but after doing if for so long now it's totally worth it in order to feel better and get your life back to "normal". Hope your first infusion went well and your feeling better. And if it helps... my gastro says the the medicines are getting better and better each day. Hang in there!

Hi,

First of all after reading your post you seem to have a lot of stress.

Stress makes matters much worse. Do you do moderate exercise daily? Do you meditate? If not look into those practices and others that reduce stress.

I understand how you feel because that diet was too restrictive for me too.....that being said it might be wise to give it one week and see how you feel. You can do it for one week right?

Just try it for 7 days and see if anything changes....   You might want to go on a two day bone broth and water fast first...but that is up to you and your doctor....

I am not on medication right now and never plan on taking any and am doing well. You might need the medication for awhile. ...it takes a little time and patience but you can be normal....and belief plays a huge role in your future health.  Do you believe you will get well or do you believe you will always be this way?  Choose your belief....

I have a book if you want it....www.healingmygut.com
