Over the years, I've navigated four surgeries, including a temporary colostomy. Medications have been a mixed bag – Azathioprine gave me 12 glorious years of remission!
Stelara keeps my labs looking good, but lately, I have had brutal diarrhea days. Everything I eat sets me off, making it hard to leave the house. Has anyone else experienced this with Stelara?
Do you have any tips or tricks for managing unpredictable flare-ups on Stelara? Please share.

Thank you I appreciate your feedback.
Diarrhea as a side effect is so ironic considering the disease the Stelara is suppose to be treating.
Unfortunately, my GI doctor rarely responds to my inquiries, which are typically directed to the nurse practitioner (NP). The NP recently recommended Imodium for my diarrhea, but I believe that is more of a temporary solution than a long-term answer. Thankfully, I have a colonoscopy scheduled next month, which will hopefully provide a clearer picture of Stelara's effectiveness.
Stay tuned!

It's always great to hear from people who understand the disease.

Experiencing diarrhea and unpredictable flare-ups while on Stelara (ustekinumab) is not uncommon, although everyone's response to medication can vary. It's essential to discuss any concerning symptoms or side effects with your healthcare provider, as they can offer personalized advice and potentially adjust your treatment plan if necessary.
