I am 14 years old and I have been diagnosed with Crohn's disease in the last two weeks.I am in 3 year in school and will be sitting my state exams in June .I have been in and out of hospital for the last 4 months, the first time I went into hospital I went in with weird bumps on my legs.I was in hospital for about a week they were saying it was everything from lyme disease to cellulitis I was discharged in a week but every two weeks i had to go back until they eventually figured out it was erythema nodosum I was still in a lot of stomach pain and stuck to a toilet and food started to hurt so I started to cut back on the amount of food I ate I started to look like a bag of bones and people in school started to spread rumors about me having an eating disorder my parents started to believe I had an eating disorder to so they sent me to a clinic for people with eating disorders the doctor there sent me back to the hospital for a full medical checkup to make sure there was nothing medically wrong with me.they did lots of test when it looked like there was no other test they could do this doctor came in and started asking questions i felt related to me  and i had an MRI don and  within an 1 of the MRI i was told i had crohn's disease. i have been put on a liquid diet for the next 6-8 weeks so would love if anyone has any tips on the e.e.n dietsmiley well thats my story so far

Hello,

I am so sorry to read about how you got to your diagnosis. That sounds horrible. I hope things are better with your classmates now and more so I hope you're feeling better than before.

My boyfriend's has severe Crohn's Disease and he's been having trouble gaining weight. He drinks those high calorie shakes from the pharmacy help but since they can get so boring he recently started blending frozen/fresh fruit with coconut milk (for the thicker, milkshake like effect) with Ensure power. He thinks drinking of those before medications also helps him absorb them better. He does frozen blueberries with milk or fresh bananas and creamy peanut butter with milk. Tasty and high calorie!

If that appeals to you, make sure to put the blender on the liquefy mode so those little seeds are taken care of.

Take care,
April

Hi, i am amazed by how you describe your story in a so no drastic manner. I hear you story, and i can relate to you. I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis two years ago. it did not take that long for the doctors to know what I had. After an emergency visit to the hospital and a colonoscopy, they found out what I have.

I have been having good and bad moments. Sometimes, really bad moments. It is a hard life, but I have been fighting to have a normal life. I know you are a fighter, and I am happy that there are fighters out there.

When it comes to diet. I keep it as soft as possible. I spend 3 weeks on liquids only and everything blended. Then, I moved to solids but still nothing hard to digest like read meat or bread. I still keep eating soft and cooked foods. I am afraid to get a flare by eating something else. I make vegetable juice every morning with a cold press juicer to absorb nutrients faster. By juicing my body does not need to break the food apart and get the nutrients.

Let me know how you are doing. I really would like to get to know someone who is going through the same issue that i have.

Happy holidays.
