Remicade

Wed, February 03, 2016 3:30 AM

Hi everyone. Today marked my 2nd remicade infusion, and I have yet to feel any relief of symptoms. The doctor told me it could take up to 4 treatments to see results but I was hoping I'd at least feel something by now. How long did Remicade take to start working for you? Which symptoms in particular did you notice most improvement with?

Hi there,

I started Remicade in November 2011 after 6MP started to fail. Part of it was my fault for not getting enough rest for a month. I was spending a lot of time with a real friend who was very compassionate and I was in need of that. I did not like anyway 6MP for the year I was on it, the fatigue was far more pronounced (probably from the anemia it causes, suppressing red blood cell production) and some gout like issues resulted.

Anyway, that aside, the first infusion I received helped stop the 24 hour fevers I was experiencing and abdominal pain. I suppose because I noticed the problem in a matter of days and not a week had passed when I switched to Remicade made the first infusion effective. I have moderate Crohn’s Disease. Perhaps you have a more severe case of Crohn’s/Colitis and maybe that might take longer or that the same medication has varying results with different people. I hope it works for you, as for my experience with Remicade has been positive.
