Hello

Sun, June 24, 2012 8:31 PM

I was recently diagnosed with chrohn's disease, Im having a hard time accepting it knowing that it lasts a lifetime. For months Ive seen numerous doctors and been in and out of the hospital for numerous things. I had severe cramps, abdominal pain, and swelling. Im  used to diets because of having severe acid reflux disease since the age of 8 Ive always had to adjust. I also have irritable bowel, and ulcers in the esophagus so its been a rough journey. Im finally glad to get some answers now instead of doctors laughing in my face and thinking im making it all up. I guess I'd just like to learn more about it, does anyone have any advice to give?

My periods are absolutely so much worse now that my Crohn's disease has really made itself known.
This is the case with most females with CD. Remember your intestines are right there too, so anything that's going
on down there will aggravate the intestines and cause more pain than in a non-IBD patient. I literally
am wrapped in my heated blanket the first day of my period cause the cramps are so bad. And I've never
really had cramps before crohn's, at all. So there is definitely a connection between the two. Have you tried a muscle relaxer
on days that you have cramps?

Sorry that it's a little late, wonder if Crones has any effect on female issues? My periods are always worse, I have extreme pain after sex and always have constant pelvic pain. I'm scheduled to get a laparoscopy to see if maybe I have adhesions or endometriosis but I'm wondering if the pain is more of an crones issue or female related.

Do you have any specific questions that cannot be answered by this website? I could go on for days about this disease. When people ask me about it, I ALWAYS ask them if they have specific questions. It makes me more able to answer your true questions and address your particular concerns. But, feel free to ask anything you wish. I will answer to the best of my ability.  With regard to general information about Crohn's, I recommend this site, CCFA.org. It has the best information and the new website is really easy to navigate with loads of information. Hope to hear from you!! smiley
