Forgetfulness

Sun, July 08, 2012 9:53 PM

Hi! :) My name is Kimico and I am 20 years old. I was diagnosed with having Ulcerative Colitis back in 2009. Since I have been diagnosed I've had one period of remission but most recently I have had a flare up. I had to take Prednisone for a week and Asacol following that which did not do me well :P RIght now, I am taking Lialda which works very well with my system but I find myself being very forgetful lately :/ I don't know if it's a side effect of the medicine, anemia, or something else. I was just wondering if anyone else has problems with remembering things...........

I have also tried many different meds throughout this whole thing but lialda seems to be doing the best. I think I really should buy a planner. That should really help. Thanks for listening :)

That's what I'm thinking the problem was. The doctor told me that I wasn't anemic, just on the low side of normal but I dnt really see a difference between being anemic and being on the low end of normal. :P  I've recently started taking vitamins (B Stress Complex) which seems to be helping as well :) I 'm still in the middle of flare up. It's been months! I've learned that it has everything to do with your diet and also remembering to take meds on time.

Lyalda works wonders for me as well. I will have to say that if im having a flare up and im losing a lot of blood I have trouble concentrating. So it could be from being anemic.

I was diagnosed in 2009 at 19 with UC and was switched around on meds so much.  I'm no lialda now and supplements, but it's really when I'm on pain meds that I am extremely forgetful.  What I do to help is I use a planner for doc appointments and alarms on my phone for medication reminders...it's just remembering to look at the planner that is still tough, so I keep it out open and in plain sight and try to cross out the days so I know when I am and where I may supposed to be.
